Medical Update: Matteo Moschetti withdraws from Giro d’Italia

Following the crash in the final kilometer of yesterday’s stage at the Giro d’Italia, our Italian rider Matteo Moschetti underwent extensive medical assessments carried out by the medical staff of the Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team.

The examinations confirmed a concussion and, in accordance with UCI medical protocols, Matteo will take no further part in the Giro d’Italia.

The team’s medical staff conducted all necessary evaluations with the utmost care and attention, always prioritizing the rider’s health and long-term wellbeing.

"This is obviously a very disappointing moment for both Matteo and the Team, especially considering the importance of the Giro d’Italia for him” said the Sport Director Gabriele Missaglia. “However, the priority is and always will be the rider’s health. Concussion protocols exist for a reason and they must be fully respected."

Matteo will now return home to begin the recovery process under the supervision of the Team’s medical staff.

The entire team wishes him a full and speedy recovery.
