Brent van Moer joins Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team after starting his career with the Belgian team Lotto. Read more to learn about his journey through the sport and his ambitions for the year ahead.
Born for the classics
For Brent van Moer, cycling didn’t start with a dream of podiums or grand tours, it started with simple rides alongside his father. Those moments on the bike, combined with a growing desire to step away from football, quietly set the foundations for a career built on endurance, grit, and instinct.
"Watching the spring classics on TV is what made me want to start cycling. Now, racing them myself, as a Belgian, feels incredibly special."
Based in Belgium throughout the season, Brent spends most of his time training at home, especially during the spring. With many of the major races just a short distance away, familiarity becomes an advantage. His training roads are unmistakably Belgian: flat, exposed, and often shaped by cold winds and rain. Conditions that don’t always forgive, but ones that build resilience.
It’s no surprise that the spring classics hold a special place in his heart. Growing up watching these races on TV, Brent saw them not just as competitions, but as part of Belgian culture. Now, lining up on those same roads, they feel like home races, familiar, demanding, and deeply meaningful.
Looking ahead, Brent’s focus is clear. He wants to be present, aggressive, and a factor in the classics, aiming to turn opportunity into a strong result when it matters most.
His defining memory so far came with a victory at the Critérium du Dauphiné: a moment that confirmed his place among the peloton and rewarded years of consistent work.
