Andrew August: American Ambition, built to win

20-year-old US talent signs three-year deal with Pinarello Q36.5 after breakthrough Czech Tour victory

Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team is pleased to announce the signing of Andrew August, one of the brightest young talents in American cycling, who will join the Team from 1 January 2027 on a three-year contract.

Born in Rochester, New York, the 20-year-old arrives at a defining moment in his young career. Fresh from overall victory at the Czech Tour, where he claimed two consecutive uphill stage wins before securing the general classification on Sunday, August is no longer simply showing potential – he is starting to turn it into victories.

The Czech Tour triumph follows a 2026 season in which August has already won at the Volta Comunitat Valenciana and claimed his first WorldTour victory at Itzulia Basque Country. Different races, different scenarios and different ways of winning – but the same emerging picture of a rider whose limits are still being discovered.

"Winning the Czech Tour was a confirmation for me. I had been feeling really strong in training in the weeks before, and then everything came together. To win the GC and two stages gives me a lot of confidence. I’m still discovering my limits and what kind of rider I can become. Right now, I just want to keep discovering that and win as many races as I can."

August grew up racing in the United States before making the transition to Europe as a junior. His early career also included cyclocross, an experience that helped develop the aggressive racing instincts and bike-handling skills he still carries into the peloton today.

At just 18, he made the unusual step directly from the junior ranks into INEOS, spending his first three professional seasons inside one of cycling’s most established high-performance environments.

"Racing in the US is completely different to racing in Europe, so it was a big transition, both as a junior and then as a professional. Joining INEOS at 18 meant jumping straight into the deep end, but it allowed me to learn how cycling works at the highest level. From my first conversations with Pinarello Q36.5, the professionalism of the Team really impressed me. It gave me the strongest feeling that this is the best place to continue my development and become the best rider I can be"

That ambition sits naturally within the Team’s Factory Team philosophy. From 2027, August will work directly with Pinarello, Q36.5 and Amacx, bringing the rider closer to the people designing and developing the bike, clothing and nutrition products behind his performance.

"That direct relationship is super important. Sometimes in professional cycling you are given the material and told to make it work. When you work directly with the partners, you can actually make a difference to the product and make it better. That is also how we can get the best out of ourselves as a Team."

Douglas Ryder, Team Principal of Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, said:

“Andrew is a rider who has impressed us for some time. At only 20 years old, he already has valuable WorldTour experience, and what stands out is how quickly he continues to develop. His performances this season, including two stage wins and the overall victory at the Czech Tour, show both his talent and his ability to turn potential into results.

We believe Andrew has all the attributes to become one of the leading riders of his generation. He is ambitious, committed to his development, and constantly looking for ways to improve. Just as importantly, he has the mindset and professionalism required to succeed at the highest level of the sport.

Our goal is to provide him with the environment, support and opportunities to continue that progression. We see this as a long-term project and are excited to help him take the next steps in his career. Andrew has already shown what he is capable of, but we believe there is still significant room for growth, and we look forward to seeing how far he can go in the years ahead.”

Andrew August will join Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team on 1 January 2027, with his three-year agreement running through the end of the 2029 season.

At 20, he is already winning. The question now is how far he can go.
