From the roads of Ávila to the toughest stages of the Grand Tours, David González is at his best as the days go by. In 2026, he looks forward to contributing in stage races and seizing his opportunities in demanding, sun-baked conditions with Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team.

Forged on the Roads of Ávila

David González’s path into cycling began in the simplest way possible: racing bikes with friends in the streets of his small hometown. It was there that a neighbour, already involved in competitive cycling, noticed his talent and encouraged him to take the sport seriously. One thing led to another, and what started as playful competition soon became a professional pursuit.

During the season, home for David is defined less by a place and more by the people around him. His wife and son are his anchor, while most of his training takes place in Ávila. It’s an environment that has shaped his versatility as a rider.

Training conditions in Ávila are demanding. Winters can be harsh, with cold temperatures, rain, and even snow, conditions he admits he doesn’t enjoy. Summer, on the other hand, brings extreme heat, which suits him far better and matches his preference for racing in tough, sun-baked conditions.

David enjoys sprinting from reduced groups, but when his form is good, he also feels strong on the climbs, able to handle a wide range of race situations.

David is particularly drawn to stage races and Grand Tours, where he feels his performances grow stronger day after day. “I usually do my best races as the days go by,” he explains, highlighting his endurance and consistency over longer events.

Looking ahead, his ambitions are clear: to line up at the Giro d’Italia or the Vuelta a España. Among his many memories in the sport, two stand above the rest. Racing the Ronde van Vlaanderen left a lasting impression, but nothing compares to competing at the Vuelta a España on home soil, surrounded by family and friends, a moment that perfectly captures why he rides.
