Tom Pidcock set to line up at Eschborn–Frankfurt on May 1, 2026

The focus shifts to Eschborn–Frankfurt for Tom Pidcock, who is expected to take the start of the German classic on May 1, 2026, as part of his gradual return to full race condition.

Following an unfortunate setback at Liège–Bastogne–Liège—where a puncture at a key moment compromised his race—the British rider approaches Eschborn–Frankfurt with a measured outlook, using the event primarily as an opportunity to rebuild rhythm and continue his progression.

A more selective 2026 edition

The 2026 edition introduces a revised and more demanding parcours, increasing both the tactical and physical complexity of the race.

As outlined in the official course documentation, the route connects Eschborn to Frankfurt through the Taunus region, featuring multiple circuits and repeated climbs over a total distance of 211.4 km, including:

  • Multiple ascents of Feldberg (7.6 km at 6.5%)
  • Repeated efforts on Mammolshain (2.3 km at 8.3%)
  • Steep ramps such as Burgweg (500 m at 11%)
  • Early climbing pressure via Sandplacken (8 km at 4.6%)

While the course characteristics could suit Pidcock’s skillset, the primary objective remains focused on regaining race intensity rather than targeting a specific result.

Team perspective

The Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team sees Pidcock’s participation as a controlled step within his ongoing build-up.

At this stage, the emphasis is on accumulating race kilometres and continuing to re-establish competitive condition after recent setbacks. Eschborn–Frankfurt offers a solid platform in this process, without placing particular expectations on the outcome.

Further updates and rider quotes will follow closer to race day.
