Quinten Hermans shines with a strong second place at De Brabantse Pijl
From Beersel to Overrijse in Belgium, today’s edition of De Brabantse Pijl delivered an intense and aggressive race, marked by a succession of breakaways that animated the action throughout the day, including on the final circuit. As often seen in previous editions, the race ultimately came down to a decisive showdown among a reduced group of around 35 riders, battling for victory on the demanding uphill sprint in the final kilometre.
The team executed a clear and disciplined strategy from the very start: to support Quinten Hermans and keep him protected until the finale. The plan was carried out to perfection, culminating in a strong second-place finish that signals a return to the level that matches his talent, following a challenging period after the knee injury sustained at Strade Bianche.
Quinten Hermans said:
"Today was actually quite a demanding race, also very dynamic with a lot of attacks. But as a team we stayed calm. We had a plan before the start to really wait until the final to go for a result and everything came together. That’s what brings a great result in the end. Looking ahead, Sunday will be harder, with a stronger field. It’s going to be really tough but with this second place we can be confident going into the next races."
Sports Director Gianluca Brambilla added:
"It was an excellent team performance today, from everyone, no exceptions. We had a plan to bring Quinten into the best possible position for the final, and all the riders executed it perfectly, both those who worked earlier in the race and those who supported him in the finale. Of course, winning would have been even better but I’m very satisfied with the team’s work and the condition shown, especially with the important races coming up."
With this result, the focus now shifts to Sunday’s Amstel Gold Race, where the Team will look to build on today’s performance with renewed confidence and momentum.
