Camprubí Powers to Podium as Pinarello Q36.5 Animates Tour de Suisse Stage 2

Marcel Camprubí delivered an impressive second-place finish on Stage 2 of the Tour de Suisse, capping off a strong collective performance from Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team after another demanding day of racing around Locarno. The 157.7 km stage featured 2,100 metres of climbing, including the ascent of Monte Ceneri before a fast and technical finale back in Locarno.

After the intense heat and selective racing of the opening stage, the team responded with a display of cohesion, commitment and tactical intelligence. Anticipating a fierce battle for the breakaway, Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team placed three riders in the decisive move of the day — the largest representation of any team in the front group. That numerical advantage allowed the riders to share the workload, support one another throughout the stage and position themselves strongly for the finale.

In the closing kilometres, Camprubí remained among the strongest riders in contention. Despite a tactical and highly competitive sprint finish, the young Spaniard secured an outstanding second place against a field packed with WorldTour talent.

"I’m very happy to finish second behind Grégoire. It was a tactical finale and maybe the legs were there to win, but I’m still really pleased with the result. He is a rider of a very high level and I think I’m gradually showing what I’m capable of."

"We suffered a lot with the heat yesterday, but today we were better acclimatised and the legs responded really well. The level here is incredibly high. Many riders are preparing for the Tour de France and you can feel the difference when you race at WorldTour level.

As a team we raced very intelligently. Everyone knew the breakaway would be large today and we organised ourselves very well. Getting three riders into the move was a huge advantage. We could work together, bring each other bottles, exchange information and support one another throughout the day.

In the sprint I think I had the legs to fight for the win, but I’m still very happy with second place.” Marcel explains.

Built for the Heat

With temperatures remaining exceptionally high throughout the opening days of this year’s Tour de Suisse, rider comfort and thermal regulation have become critical performance factors.

Camprubí highlighted the role played by the Q36.5 Dottore Pro Race Suit during another demanding day in the breakaway.

“This Dottore Pro Race Suit is incredible. Beyond helping in the heat, it is extremely comfortable and elastic. When you spend the whole day in a breakaway you have to stay aerodynamic for hours, and normally you suffer with your lower back, neck and friction points.

The quality is incredibly high, among the best on the market. Today I had no issues at all, neither with muscle overheating nor with comfort.”

While sprint finishes are always unpredictable — especially after a long and hot day of aggressive racing — Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team leaves Stage 2 with confidence. The objective is to be present in the decisive moments, race proactively and consistently challenge the strongest riders in the race. Today, the team did exactly that.
