3rd Place for Tom Pidcock at Vuelta a Murcia Stage 1

Today’s Stage 1 of the Vuelta a Murcia delivered thrilling racing from start to finish under intense and challenging conditions.

Due to strong winds, the original course was modified and shortened to 89.2 km, with the start re‑located to Fortuna (Murcia, Spain) for rider safety. Despite the adjustment, the pace was high and the competition fierce throughout.

Early on, Quinten Hermans animated the race from the front, joining a dangerous breakaway that saw several riders go clear and test the peloton’s resolve. The team rode with awareness and commitment in the crosswinds, protecting Tom Pidcock and maintaining strong positioning.

As the race approached its decisive moments, the intense wind continued to shape the battle, demanding strength, focus and tactical precision. In the final kilometres, Tom Pidcock delivered a sharp and powerful finish, taking third place on the stage and securing a well‑earned result for the squad.

Reflecting on his performance after the finish, Tom shared:

"It was a positive start. The legs are there and our team is strong. I think I can be quite happy with how I rode today. We had some issues with the radios, which isn’t ideal in such a chaotic race, but overall it was a solid performance from the whole team. Of course, I wanted to win, but for the first race day of the year, it’s good to get it underway and build from here."

The shortened stage and gusty conditions made for a tactical and physically testing day, but the team adapted and rose to the challenge. With a podium on the board and positive signs across the roster, all eyes now turn to Stage 2 as the Vuelta a Murcia continues.
