Herne Hill Velodrome to World Tour
Thomas Gloag discovered cycling in a surprising way, through his local velodrome’s holiday day sessions. “It was the cheapest childcare around,” he laughs, “and that’s how I started riding.” What began as a simple way to stay active quickly turned into a passion. He soon realized that the thrill of racing, the strategy, and the challenge of pushing his own limits were unlike anything he had experienced before.
During the season, Andorra serves as his home base, with its mountains providing the perfect playground for training in all kinds of weather. Sun, rain, or cold, every ride counts, shaping him both physically and mentally for the challenges of professional racing. Thomas also values the time spent at home betweenraces, where he can recover, reflect, and plan for the next phase of the season.
The start of the season is what excites him the most. “It’s always great to get racing after some time off,” he says, eager to feel the adrenaline and competitiononce again. Early-season races allow him to test his form, adapt to the dynamics of the peloton, and set the tone for the months ahead. His goals for the yearinclude tackling the Giro and making an impact in smaller stage races, pushing himself to deliver consistent performances while supporting his teammates.
One of the things Thomas enjoys most about cycling is the combination of personal challenge and teamwork. Each race is a lesson, a moment to grow, and a chance to experience the unique camaraderie that comes with being part of a professional team.
Finally, Rumour has it that Thomas has a serious sprint on him, just ask Joey Pidcock.
