Sjoerd Bax returns for his second year with the team, looking to play a key role in a grand tour and one day races. Read more to learn about Sjoerd's journey from racing mountain bikes to winning an Italian classic.
Off-road beginnings
Sjoerd Bax’s journey into cycling began off-road. As a child, it was the forest trails that first sparked his passion, mountain biking alongside his father, discoveringthe joy of riding through nature. That early sense of freedom eventually led him to competition, and from there, to the professional peloton.
During the season, Sjoerd calls Maastricht home. It’s a terrain that suits his style perfectly: short, punchy hills that demand explosiveness and precision. Training in Western Europe means adapting to ever-changing conditions, wet and cold through autumn and winter, then bright and warm when summer arrives.
Sjoerd is especially drawn to Grand Tours, with the Giro d’Italia holding a special place in his calendar, alongside the selective and tactical races of the autumn. His ambitions for the season are clear: lining up at the Giro, targeting strong performances, and shining at the National Time Trial Championships.
Among all his achievements, one memory stands out above the rest, a moment that confirmed his place in the professional ranks and his love for racing aggressively.
"Winning Coppa Agostoni is my best cycling memory. It’s the kind of victory that reminds you why you started racing in the first place."
With his versatility, race intelligence and background forged on varied terrain, Sjoerd Bax brings both experience and determination to every start line.
