Grand Tour aspirations

Matteo Moschetti’s journey into cycling began on the side of a local road in Italy. As a child, he watched his cousin race in the youth categories, captivated by the speed, the noise, and the raw emotion of competition. Curious and inspired, he asked to try it himself. After a few weeks of hesitation, Matteo pinned on a race number for the first time at just seven years old and never looked back.

Today, Monaco is his base during the season. From there, he trains between races on the hilly roads of the Côte d’Azur and southern France, mixing rolling terrain with fast, flat coastal roads perfectly suited to sharpening his sprint. When time allows, he also returns to his hometown area near Robecco sul Naviglio, reconnecting with his roots and familiar roads. Training conditions are mostly ideal, sunshine year-round, though the Mediterranean climate can still bring unexpected rain from time to time.

One memory remains particularly close to his heart. After a difficult period, Matteo found redemption and joy with a stage win at the AlUla Tour, a moment that reminded him why he fell in love with cycling in the first place.

"Winning stage 5 in AlUla after such a bad period meant everything to me. It was a reminder to always keep believing."

Among all races, one day stands above the rest for Matteo: the Sunday of Paris–Roubaix. The chaos, the cobbles, the intensity, for him; it represents pure racing in its rawest form. Looking ahead, his ambition is clear: to win more races than last season and claim a stage victory in a Grand Tour.
