Based in Andorra, David de la Cruz has built his career on climbing, consistency, and determination. In 2026, he aims to deliver strong performances at Paris–Nice and Volta a Catalunya, defend his Spanish national time trial title.
From a Bike Shop to the Peloton
For David de la Cruz, cycling was never planned. “I always said it was destiny,” he says. One day, while thinking about his future, he passed a bike shop and decided to buy a basic road bike with the money he earned from his job. That small decision triggered a butterfly effect that led him to become a professional cyclist just two and a half years later.
During the season, De la Cruz is based in Andorra, where altitude, long climbs, and demanding terrain shape his training. “You won’t find much flat here, it’s a paradise for climbing,” he explains. Winter conditions can be cold, but team camps and occasional trips to warmer regions help him maintain consistency.
The summer months are what motivate him most.
"I like summer, that’s when the Tour de France and the Vuelta take place. I love Grand Tours above any other races."
Racing with Focus and Determination
His goals include strong performances at Paris–Nice and Volta a Catalunya, defending his Spanish national time trial title, and earning his place at the Tour de France, especially meaningful with the Grand Départ in Barcelona. He also targets the Vuelta a España with GC ambitions.
His most unforgettable moment remains his first professional victory: a stage win at the Vuelta a España that also brought the leader’s jersey, an experience that confirmed he was exactly where he was meant to be.
